I have found that any ISP with "Link" in their title is a horror story waiting to happen. Have has terrible experiences with Centurylink and Suddenlink. Re: Throttled? or an issue with Cox internet somewhere? That may be so, but Packet Loss is not the issue for me. Besides, other local streamers use Cox, and they have no issues at the same time that I am. The local friend I am gaming online with also has Cox, and his speeds do not fluctuate. Which is why I am leaning towards it being a cable issue in the neighborhood. Throttled? or an issue with Cox internet somewhere? This has been happening off and on. I thought it was resolved, but it has reared it's ugly head again. My upload speeds are dropping fairly regularly now. They have been unstable for almost 72 hours now, when usually it is only a few hours. I have tried Speedtests (via Speedtest.net). 1) when selecting the local Cox server, I get the results I expect ( I have Internet 100, so 100 down, 10 up), Ping 10 or less. However.... 2) When selecting ANY other Local server, or an out-of-town/out-of-state server, the ping jumps to 30-50, download speed stays pretty normal, but Upload speed drops to between 2 to 5 Mbs. Again, download is relatively unaffected. It is ALWAYS the upload speed that suffers. This issue used to occur regularly, 3 to 5 times a week. Starting roughly around 10pm CST (give or take 15 minutes), and last anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours. And I do mean regularly. I live-stream to Twitch, so I would warn my viewers every night that the stream might ** out around that time. It was a regular occurrence. The issue appeared to resolve however, and I did not have issues for about 2 months. Now the above issue is occurring. Note, that NO other local streamers (and I have discussed this with 6-8 of them) have this issue (and they all use Cox as well because it's the only cable internet locally). It has been speculated that it may be a temperature issue, since it does seem to happen with temps above 85, and temps below 40. I do live in an older neighborhood with above ground lines. And we have speculated the the insulation on the cables outside may be wearing thin. I have several friends who work in IT related jobs, and they have been over to help me diagnose. We are absolutely positive it is NOT my system, and pretty positive it is not the modem or router. Consensus is that the issue lies outside with the cables, or somewhere between the cable box on the outside of the house and the Cox nodes/servers. Looking for any insights anyone may have. Due to my work schedule, it is going to be at least a week or more before I can try to schedule a tech visit. The low upload speed will prevent me from live-streaming until it returns to near normal. Re: Upload speeds in afternoon are slow, morning is great. Same issue here. Daytime speeds are fine, but once sunset hits (or rather 6-7pm CST), my upload speed drops dramatically and is now lasting for hours. I thought the issue had resolved itself a week ago, but it has reared its head even worse now. My download speeds are completely unaffected though... I will be arranging a tech visit next week :( Re: Me and my girl friend are having issues streaming on cox to Twitch,YouTube,Mixer and Facebook. I am having some of the Same issues. But here is the oddity.... It comes and goes. Sometime Every Single Night that I stream.... somewhere between 10pm and Midnight Central time, my upload speed drops drastically. Download speed remains the same, but Upload just drops out. It will last anywhere from 5 minutes to 45 minutes (occasionally for hours, like tonight). And it only started happening after June 20th, give or take. Before that, I had no problems whatsoever. I am also a Twitch affiliate, and it really ruins the stream when I start dropping 1000 frames per minute. I have Internet 100, and an Arris brand modem, not a Puma. I have switched settings repeatedly, and switched Twitch servers. But the issue persists. Last night for example (7/14/2018)... Started streaming around 11:30pm. Dropped frames and had lag from the start. Played with settings to no avail. At 12:15am, the issues stopped and I had a trouble-free stream for 2 hours. Then the issue reappeared around 2:30am. Dropped 21,000 frames in 15 minutes. Upload speed via Speedtest was 1/3 normal. Download speed remained normal. This issue is really becoming a serious nuisance. Also tonight Speedtest.net was showing the upload speed issue (only getting less than 2mbs). But DSLreports was showing the correct, expected speed (ie 100/10). But the issue is still occurring... going on 3.5 hours now. Also today, I checked the outside box, and disconnected two splitters. The cable is coming into the house through a single cable now, rather than 3. I had hopes that would solve the issue, but it did not. I am going to be calling for a Tech to come out tomorrow morning. Was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but alas...
