Plan is Gigabit over cable and I'm getting over 900Mb down typically, but the errors kind of blow me away. Any reason for concern? I will usually power down the modem and re-power after :30+ seconds, allowing the buffer and connection to reset. Re: modem errors Tiffany, I've got screen captures from Jan 8 at 8:27AM prior to a Modem reset showing massive errors on all channels of my Arris SB8200 modem. I also have a screen capture of the modem log showing a forced reset at 9:21AM, as well as a screen capture from 5:33PM this evening showing the errors accumulating once again. As I've previously mentioned, when I first got the 8200 modem, there were rarely any errors at all. Recently I've seen errors mostly on channels 41 and 159, but the last couple of weeks errors have shown on all channels, with ch 159 getting as many as 539,000 as of the last screen capture after doing a full reset 8-hours earlier. Re: modem errors Lots of erratic speed issues. I pay for 300Mb speeds and, mostly, get it... but there are times when everything stops entirely. I just captured some screen shots showing extreme modem errors after doing a complete reset at 9:21AM. In less than 8-hours the accumulated errors are HORRIBLE!! I could go for weeks and weeks with this NEVER happening before. Hopefully, someone who knows what they're talking about can answer my questions... I actually had a phone operator argue with me that there was "no way I could be getting speeds above 300Mb", even though I had recorded history of well over 360Mb on average. It blew me away that customer service would argue with me that I was getting something BETTER than what I was paying for. I so wish we had an option other than Cox. I've been with them for 18+ years and am so tired of this... Re: modem errors I'm having the same issues but with many more channels. This was never a problem prior to Jan 1 and even after power-cycling the modem, the errors eventually come back. Something is terribly wrong with the system and I will be calling support later today. Why am I using so much data? I've got traces on all of my systems (Mac OS) and have disabled the "Back to my Mac" option everywhere, so there shouldn't be much traffic at all. Yet, we're 6-days into this billing cycle and I've used 38% of my allocated 400GB per month! Last Saturday was almost 39GB of data flowing to/from my house. Does Cox have any tools to actually see what's going on, either open ports or IP addresses? This is CRAZY!!! Re: Signal level of cable modem dropping Don't know the model, etc., of the pad. It was done almost one year ago. Once it was added, everything was stable for quite a while. We've had some underground stuff going on in the neighborhood and, since I'm paying for 100Mb speeds, I'd prefer to know when changes are going on in the neighborhood that may effect my service... but thanks for asking. Signal level of cable modem dropping At one point, my Motorola SB6121 cable modem had levels at +2dBmV or higher. A service tech came out and put a pad inline dropping levels to 0dBmV on all channels. Now it has dropped -2 to -3dB per channel. I haven't noticed any changes in working, but should I make a service call to have the pad removed? Re: Unable to Connect to Server to check email on Android phone This doesn't really have anything to do with your phone as it does Cox service, as I used to have the same problem with my iPhone and laptop when away from home. Cox email servers prefer to be 'hit' from your in-home account as verification that it's you. What I ended up doing was using a mail RELAY service such as thishttp://www.dnsexit.com/Direct.sv?cmd=mailRelay. For a cost of $1.50 per month for up to 150 relays per day, your phone uses them as the smtp address to send mail to which they relay to Cox using your login credentials. As far as smtp.west.cox is concerned, the emails are coming from you when you're home. Re: DOCSIS 3.0 vs. what I have now? When I switched to a new Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 modem, my speeds almost DOUBLED... more than what I'm paying for. Make the switch to the Cisco. Re: Premiere Level Internet - Cable Modem replacement I recently had to replace mine and went for the Motorola SB6121. It is DOCSIS 3.0 compatible (latest version). My download/upload speeds MORE THAN DOUBLED when I connected this modem. I've checked it multiple times since installing it the end of January and my speeds are always above the 25Mb speeds that Premier service guarantees. Look for the SB6121 to be not much over $100. WELL WORTH IT!!!
