ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Ridiculously Slow Ultimate SpeedsYou probably have packet loss from noise in the line. The typical Cox tech doesn't know sh!t. You need a Plant tech to come out, they're the only ones who can trace where the noise is coming from. Cox will send 50 half-@ss techs in a row b4 the Plant tech escalation. I've been getting packet loss since 8/10/17, and several techs can't figure it out. The plant techs ran cable directly from the tap into their own modem, still had packet loss, proving it wan't my equipment(which I told them in the firs place). No hope in sight...Re: Very slow upload speeds, download speeds are fineI'm having the same issues in northeast Phoenix since 8/10/17. About 10 different tech and levels of expertise have been here, checking my equipment(nothing wrong w/ it after several tests). There was a plant tech out there today, I think he replaced the whole tap...still no improvement. Still packet loss, and slow uploads. This is after they replaced the cable in my house going to the modem, the wall plate connector, hooked their modem/router up in my house, did drop work, tested my stuff(again), and now the plant tech...still no change. Getting so old...Re: Since 2/17/17 packet loss and slow upload speedsGreat advice, much appreciated. FYI, I'm aware the Xbox's test isn't the most reliable for speeds. It just so happens that it only started showing packet loss for the first time ever, coinciding w/ the packet loss/slow upload speeds. Also, they do show alerts if they're having network issues on their end FWIW(they didn't have any when this started). I have been using the Cox internal speedtest, and the Tempe site from speedtest.net. Speediest.net actually has their own site in Phoenix now, which has mirrored the Tempe site's results.Since 2/17/17 packet loss and slow upload speedsI'm one of those tech savvy guys who tests his network on a regular basis. I use a 2013 Apple Time capsule as a router and a Netgear CM500 modem, w/ Cox ultimate. My tests between Cox's internal speedtest, speedtest.net, and the Xbox One's network test have consistently been about 230-235 down, 30-35 up. They've always been within less than 5% of each other. Suddenly on 2/17/17, I noticed my downloads were slightly lower(around 200 down) and my uploads were cut in half(15 up). I ran all 3 speed tests(Xbox One-hard wired, speedtest.net, and Cox's internal speedtest). All 3 had the same poor results. The Xbox One showed 1-3% packet loss, which has NEVER happened before(again, I use all 3 speed tests on a regular basis, no previous problems). Pingtest.net has also been showing packet losses of 1-3%. I use that site ALL the time, never had packet load before 2/17/17. Cox tech came out, determined it was the router, because he said hard-wired from the modem to his laptop, things were fine. Tech leaves, I hard wire the modem directly to the Xbox One, 95 down, 3 up, 3% packet loss-no router involved. I hard-wire my Macbook laptop directly to the modem. Uploads are STILL half of what they should be thru speedtest.net and Cox's internal speedtest. Pingtest.net still show 1-3% packet loss. I buy a new modem(TP LINK TC-7620). Cox Rep on phone says IMMEDIATELY showing packet loss, signals all over the place. Hard wired laptop from new modem-no router involved, still showing 1-3% packet loss at pingtest.net, slow uploads(roughly half). Hard wired Xbox One directly to new modem, packet loss is 1-3%, uploads are still 2-3mbps up. All done w/ new ethernet cables from the new modem. There are no splitters between the coax cable from the wall and my modem, except for the connector from where it actually enters the the wall. Cox tech is coming again, between 3-5 pm Phoenix time. Desperate for advice.SolvedRe: Router losing connection to Cable Modem Tecknowhelp said: IPv6 is fully implemented. What did the router logs say? Modem logs? How do you have them configured? I have been running IPv6 for over a month with no problems. Cox runs a dual stack, v6 along side v4. It's not really fully implemented til IPv4 is obsolete. FWIW, I changed my settings from link-local back to default after Apple's 7.7.7 update. Not a dropped connection yet...Re: Router losing connection to Cable Modem I'm just reposting this becuz of the long term success I've had since adjusting my Apple Time Capsule's settings to link local. It's pathetic Apple hasn't patched this yet. Hope this helps customers who are new to the tread: had an Apple Time Capsule(2013 tall version) w/ a Moto SB6121 w/ no problems for 2yrs. Bout 3mos ago, out of nowhere, I suddenly kept losing my connection twice a day. Soon as I rebooted the modem or the router everything was fine, but it would always return. Went to the Apple forums and learned that Apple and Moto Surfboards don't play nice w/ each other(there's an entire thread devoted to it). I'd had no problems w/them 2gether for 2yrs previously though soooo??? Problem persisted, switched to my old Cisco DPC3000(DOCSIS 3.0). Problem still persisted, so it's not that Apple/Surfboards don't like each other, becuz it's doing it w/ the other modem too. This is the solution that has worked for me without a drop/issue for a month straight: ***I changed IPv6 settings(in the network settings and Airport utility) to link-local***. I tested it w/ my old Cisco DPC 3000, my Arris/Moto Surfboard 6121, and now my new Netgear CM-500(had to upgrade to it to reach the new Cox 300mbps speeds). NO DROPS W/ ANY OF THOSE MODEMS ANYMORE-haven't had an issue since. YOU MUST SWITCH TO LINK-LOCAL IN BOTH THE NETWORK ***AND*** THE AIRPORT UTILITY. Just changing one won't work. 1. System Preferences/network/advanced(lower right)/TCP-IP/configure IPv6:link-local only 2. Finder/applications/utilities/Airport Utility.app/click on the Airport icon/edit/internet/internet options(below)/configure IPv6: link-local only/save Re: Router losing connection to Cable Modem I had an Apple Time Capsule(2013 tall version) w/ a Moto SB6121 w/ no problems for 2yrs.
