ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: suggestion for conflict programs Good luck, John2222, I documented this back is 2014, I got a response from Becky "We've been able to duplicate the problem with one of our 2-tuner DVRs. It's possible there is a difference in the way the 2-tuner and 6-tuner DVRs are programmed to document Missed Recordings, so we've forwarded the information in this thread to our Video Product Team. If we get any updates, we will let you know!" 2 1/2 years later they are "I'll pass what you've said on to our Management Team.", don't hold your breath. Re: Internet problems internetnoob said: ...single modem/router has trouble to figure out where to send the signals to the ps4 when playing certain games. Is there a way we can connect a second modem/router to separate the connection so we don't have this problem? You are correct, when playing the same game both ps4s try to use the same ports and the router gets confused as to where to send the packets. Connecting a second modem/router will work but requires a second internet service from Cox at an additional cost. I would contact Cox customer service for pricing on a second account. Is Cox purging email accounts? On one of my user email accounts, we received an email from: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- residential@email.cox.com FINAL NOTICE: Your Cox.Net Email Account will be Deleted Dear Cox Email User, We noticed that you haven't signed in to one or more of your Cox.net email accounts ********@cox.net in the past 150 days. As part of maintenance, we evaluate email activity to optimize our support systems and because you haven't signed in to check email recently, your account has been flagged as "inactive". Unless you take action, your email account and all messages, contacts and data contained in it will be deleted on April 5, 2017. Once an account is deleted the content can no longer be recovered. If you no longer need this email account, no action is required. If you want to keep your email account, simply sign into the Cox.net email account(s) you wish to retain before the deadline above. To access your Cox Email, type the following URL into your web browser: webmail.cox.net. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since all links point to cox.com or cox.net & the instructions say to manually type the webmail address into your browser, I have to assume this is legit email from Cox. When I signed on to my main account and looked at my users, yes, the subject user was marked as "inactive" but not deleted. I was able to reactive the user using a link from there. Since when is Cox purging inactive accounts every 150 days, is there anything stating this on Cox's website? This email looks so much like phishing, I can see customers ignoring it and loosing their user accounts. Also, sending a notice only 6 days in advance (mail dated 3/30) and not copying the primary account holder is not good policy/customer service. I hope a Cox mod can clarify the policy and when it went into effect. Thanks Re: HD The coax output of the GSH4742 is SD only, see this page. I don't have a unit to test with but you may have to change the video settings of the box to output to HDMI. In any case, you don't want to use the coax, it won't give you HD. It's either a setting or bad HDMI port on the STB, first guess is a setting Edit: one additional thought, do you have the HDMI port where the STB is connected to the TV selected for the TV input? Since you are getting signal on the coax port, sounds like that may be selected. Re: HD Gadola, what set top box are you using and how is it connected to your TV? If you are using a minibox connected via coax, that's all the minibox will output, it must be connected using HDMI to get an HD signal. Andrew, 420 (or 480p) is not HD, it's SD. Minimum resolution for HD is 720p. If the OP is getting 480p, it's a connection or setting problem with the STB. Re: Mini Box and peripherals sandman_1 said: Question for Allen, is it policy to not issue another DVR/Receiver for the household? (cause I thought i would just use another HD receiver to pull the audio signal from since the soundbar works thru that) I went into the Cox retail store and the rep would not issue me one and said these "mini-boxes" are the only option now as long as the household has one main dvr. I can't speak to Cox policy since I am a customer too. But, AFAIK, you can rent a digital STB in addition to a main DVR, you don't have to rent a minibox even though it is cheaper. Re: Mini Box and peripherals Can you get audio from the TV speakers, not using the soundbar? If so, the minibox & HDMI cable are working correctly and Bruce is correct, if it's not a broken optical cable, it's a setting in your TV's audio menu. The only change from his suggestions is to set ARC off. ARC causes the TV audio output to use the HDMI1 input connection, not the optical. Re: Contour on Roku Becky, IMHO, you didn't answer the question the OP asked. The way I read it, the OP asked if there will be a Contour app for Roku not if Roku apps (like Netflix) will be available on the Contour 2 box. Re: Internet Change Failing Eric, what model modem and router are you using? A 25Mbps max sounds like you may still be using a DOCSIS 2 modem. Re: Which Router? Which ROUTER?! First of all, the 150Mbps down is 10Mbps up, not 25 or 50. If you are using 7 yo equipment, you have a separate modem and router. What model modem are you using. If it's not DOCSIS 3 with at least 8x4 channels (minimum, more channels the better) it must be replaced. Also, what model is your router? AFAIK, Cox only rents gateways (combo modem & router in one box). For $7.99 a month you will get a single band (2.4 GHz) gateway, a dual band gateway is $9.99/mo. For best performance, ease of troubleshooting and save $$ over time, I recommend buying your own separate devices, a 16x4 modem like the Surfboard SB6183 and a dual band wireless ac router. ASUS and Netgear Nighthawk make very good routers as does TP-Link at a lower price point. You can buy a modem + router starting at less than $150 total and save the $10/mo rental fee.
