Live pause/rewind of client box (Cisco 4742HDC) on Contour 1

Does anybody know if Cisco 4742HDC client box stores its own hour of live backup or does it relay on the record 6 DVR (Cisco 9865HDC DVR) for live pause/rewind?

Our client box 4742HDC is increasingly refusing to pause live video with the “Sorry we’re having technical difficulties, try again later” statement. Other times it will enter pause mode but instead of showing channel being watched, it will be on a program being recorded or previously recorded on DVR.

Wondering if problem is more likely in client or DVR box? Also if I can switch either box at Cox store and install or is a tech required to swap out?

    Hi Don426, the client receivers rely on the host receiver in order to function properly. While you can go into your local Cox retail location and swap out the Client receiver at no charge, that is something I do not recommend doing. This is because your receiver may be experiencing signal issues, which is causing that error message to display on your television screen. Please check to ensure that all cables are tightly secured and free of damage. In addition, if you have a splitter, please make sure this is in good, working condition. One way to test the splitter is simply to bypass it, to see if this resolves the problem. If the issue persists, the best course of action would then be to send out a service technician.
