Cox Commercial loudness

Why are the Cox commercials consistently so much louder than the other commercials? The one that is particularly bad right now is the commercial where the girl goes to college and they're trying to find the cat. This has gotten ridiculous and if Cox can't get their act together I will be filing a complaint with the FCC regarding the CALM Act.

  • Hi pdub_OK,

While the industry is working to minimize loud commercials there will be times when commercials air that are not compliant. That’s why Cox is committed to addressing the issues. Another cause for complaint may be the transition from regular programming which ends quietly to a commercial advertisement that begins at normal volume. It may sound louder even though the commercial is compliant with the regulations. Also, variations between loud and quiet parts within a single commercial may seem too loud but still meet the average requirements and be compliant.

Cox is actively engaged with its programming and advertising partners as well as its equipment providers to ensure that the services delivered to our customers meet the regulations. In addition, we have a process to track patterns of customer complaints and take additional measures to ensure compliance based on customer feedback. We can certainly submit a CALM Act Customer Complaint form on your behalf. Please email my team at cox.help@cox.com with this post and the following information:

    • Your full name
    • Complete address
    • Contact number
    • Date Commercial Aired
    • Commercial Topic
    • Channel
    • Network
    • Device Commercial Viewed on (Advanced TV, HD, DVR, Contour etc.)

Your submission will be documented for reporting and investigation purposes.
