For the second time in the last five years, a Cox truck guy was found wandering around the property, unasked, because he suspected "ingress mitigation" leaks were occurring, which in his opinion, or Cox's (you choose), a possible RF leak from a coax drop in our house was slowing down the neighborhood.
Seriously? And then he added guys like him just drive around all day, looking for stray RF.
Seriously again? This happened about five years ago - so we went along for the ride, someone came out, thought they 'may' have found the suspected line, tagged it in our external house cable box, and then left, never to be heard of again, until this guy showed up.
I then said "do you want to come in and try and trace the line (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076DP1534/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_9?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1),
to which he replied "I don't have the tools for that".
Then WTF are you doing on the property? Stunned.
Anyone else ever have this happen to you, and if so, what was done to rectify the problem so they aren't found lurking in the garden again....
I love that when ever people complain about ingress and T3 errors, people complain (rightfully so) that it's like pulling teeth getting a CLI crew, but then when someone is (probably) causing the problem,they wan't nothing to do with them. The technician was only there to isolate the problem to your house and block it. The next step is to schedule a inside technician to isolate where it's coming from inside the house. Not sure why that second part was left out, but there you have it. I would suggest doing it before Cox terminates the signal all together.
PS. You don't trace the problem with such a tiny meter. It's more like this, that not all technicians have.
well, he WAS invited in, and given access to the house box, but declined the offer. It would have been nice if he had called ahead and said he was coming out. And if he didn’t have the correct, $1600 meter, then why bother to show up? Since there’s a tagged line in the box from five years ago, it’s a mystery why they didn’t deal with it then, unless of course it was going to personally cost us a great deal of money. Secondly, none of this was a problem until Internet, telephony and switched digital became a “thing” regarding signals leaked back into the system. It’s pretty rough if Cox radically changes technology for homes built 45 years ago, under a monopoly, and then expects everyone to pay up to bring things up to Cox’s standards.
Until these new technologies arrived, there were no complaints. I guess we’ll call them AGAIN.
Don't get me wrong. I am not saying you don't have a right to be frustrated. The process wasn't handled correctly. I just meant to voice my frustration as someone who has a problem in their neighborhood with ingress from a neighbor who didn't want Cox "snooping around" to track the problem. Sorry for jumping the gun.
So yea, I would suggest calling again and explain the situation. They should schedule a data technician or someone who would have the meter. Have them write on the work order that this is in response to the CLI team being out and hopefully dispatch will be able to get the house technician and CLI technician on the same page.
