I just signed up with Cox and I've had nothing but problems with my DVR. I've had it replaced once. At first my DVR was wiping out all of my recordings. That has since been resolved with the replacement. I've been having the following problems lately:
1. Recordings being corrupt and not being able to watch them
2. Recording a currently airing show, click the record button, click confirm but it doesnt actually record the show
3. Cancelling series but it continues to record them
4. different rooms show different recordings
5. The most frustrating is sports shows. A football game that is airing for 3.5 hours on the guide records for up to 5 hours which causes conflicts with other recordings
Cox's only response is to reboot the DVR. So to use Cox cable I have to reboot the DVR twice a day?
Update: I rebooted and now the remote works! So happy. However, earlier I had enabled closed caption because I couldn't hear the announcers on the Seattle game because the crowd was so loud. Now, the closed caption words have moved from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen and now cover up the contour menu when I enter it. The pain continues.
Tiffany, here's and update...
9/25-tech comes out, says line from patch panel to street is dropping packets. I asked him if it was the line from my house to the condo closet and he says "no, its the line from the closet to the street".
9/29-record a football game which usually run 1 to 1.5 hours long. I'm watching one of the football games I recorded, get to the end and the recording finished before the game was over (finished early instead of way late)
10/2-Cox supervisor leaves me a voicemail stating "the ticket has been cleared". She says the line that goes from patch panel to my house has issues.
10/3-I go to watch one of the recordings I set up earlier in the day and there's no sign of it...not on the schedule and not on the DVR
10/4-wake up and none of my regularly recorded morning shows have been recorded. There's no explanation as far as I can tell. I reboot both boxes
10/4-fast forwarding through a recording, cant stop it. Message appears on screen stating "we're having problems connecting to your box call cox". Eventually the fast forwarding runs out and the box starts responding (**not sure how this last issue can be related to a network connection. I was just watching a recording that's physically located on the DVR hard drive)
10/4-called the supervisor back that left me the voicemail on 10/2 and left her a voicemail. She doesn't work on Thursdays so hopefully I'll hear back tomorrow.
The supervisor and tech came out yesterday and put my DVR on one line in the house. The responsiveness of the remote seems better however the guide issues continue. This appears to be something not related to my box.
I recorded "Live Coverage: Tracking Michael" on the weather channel (51) which runs from 11am to 7pm however on my DVR there was only 1 hour recorded and the recording was titled "Channel: WEATHHD - 51".
Yes some have been recorded. I've had two additonal issues today:
1. A football game I recorded ended abrubtly after only recording for 4 minutes 34 seconds.
2.I recorded the WVU and Iowa St. football game on FS1. I just attempted to record the USC Colorado game that starts immediately after the WVU / Iowa St. game on the same channel and was told I had to cancel another recording because of too many conflicts. The recording system is so stupid it's overlapping recordings on the same channel.
Why doesn't it end the first recording on time and start the new recording on time???? I'm beginning to believe that some of the issues I'm having are related to poorly written programming (ie. software programmers) that Cox has hired contracted out with.
