I have my cable box hooked up to my TV via a coaxial cable. I recently got a new tv and did the auto tuner. The only channel that appears is channel 4. I can't go to channel 3 on my tv even if I scan again or manually add channel 3. So I was wondering if there a way to set the cable box to output a signal using channel 4? I have a Cisco Explorer 4742HDC cable box.
Factory reset the TV and don't do a auto scan. Your not using the tuner in the TV, your using the one in your box, Is it a really old TV? WHy are you using coaxial?
The TV is about 2012. The reason I wanted to use coaxial is for space. My tv has 3 HDMI ports with a PS4, Switch/NES Classic/SNES Classic and Wii U connected in those 3. I have a GameCube in 1 component port and an N64 in 1 composite port. The only other port I have opened is a VGA. I usually just use the TV in the background when I am doing stuff around the house so picture quality isn’t a priority for me.
The tricky part is even though I am pretty sure there is a way in the menu to change the broadcast channel. how would you see the screen to get to the menu? Maybe if you hooked it up with HDMI or something, changed the channel in the cable box menu, then hook it back up via coaxial.
However the easier route would be to unprogram the TV. Factory reset it or just leave it unplugged. WHat I don't get is if the TV picked up channel 4, the box must be broadcasting on it already.
