When TV first turned on, does not buffer rendering rewind useless. Miss critical information. Okay after pause. Additionally, with countour 2, when I want to record a program that I have been watching for 30 minutes, recording starts at the time that record is pressed. The whole program IS NOT recorded. This was not the way contour 1 worked. Would actually like to go back to countour 1 if possible.
Are you using a main DVR with smaller client boxes for whole home? Or multiple DVR in each room? If whole home, I would thing there is something wrong with the MoCA connection between the client and main host box. If not, I would think there is something wrong with the HD in the box.
As for recording, could you turn the box off before recording? I know with the old DVRs you could press the "Swap" button on the remote, and it would switch which tuner was outputing the picture and which was feeding the DVR, this resetting the cache. I know the new remotes don't have the same button, but I wonder if turning the box off/on would have the same effect if the buffer doesn't work on launch. Turn one problem into another problems solution maybe?
Thanks for your suggestions. i have contour 2 whole home dvr with mini-box. Have spoken with Cox and they told me the reasons were that cox had made changes so so much buffering (memory) not being used. Sounded like on the cheap. Am I the only one on this blog with this issue??????

Not sure what you mean by that. I have heard of problem with client boxes caching to host DVR. Usually the problem is the sync key or the MoCA signal. Do you have problem scheduling recordings? How about when you do record them? Do they come out clear without any tiling?
First thing I would try is resetting all the boxes and then have someone look at them all with the tool called "Home Certification". This should tell them about the signal getting to the boxes and between the boxes.

This is the first time I have heard a moderator explain WHY they ask a customer to email them, It's a small thing but it makes things flow better, DVR work-around?
Hi Dan. I received a follow up call from Cox here in Phoenix. The complaints I have registered on this thread have been documented as the way the Contour 2 works. The representative said she was aware of many complaints about how the record function no longer will "go back" to the beginning of a program you are watchin, but rather will begin recording at the time stamp at which time you push the record button. She assured this complaint will be escalated up the line so hopefully the previous way of operation can be restored. Very disappointing.
