is there a way to see thru the guide(5 channels in middle). i can see some of the program a little above and below but not middle.
i can see thru in other instances like in my recordings, settings etc....(ibackground darkness level on 1) but not when pressing guide, which was my main goal.
reprogram that so it can, thanks
*is there a way to program a skip forward button? it has a reverse 15 seconds. i can say ff 30 seconds or ff 2 minutes at least.
What type of box do you have, or type of TV service? Contour 1 or 2? Or something other then Contour? I think Contour 1 had different options for how the guide looks, but haven't used it in a while. If Contour 2, I think you can use the Voice Search button to bring up a small menu that allows you to see the channel behind it.
As for the FF skip, see post here

Just going by a picture I saw when going through the FAQ looking for a transparency option. Doesn't show you the guide, but maybe you can use it to search for the channel you watch while still seeing the current channel. I had to drop TV because I couldn't afford it, so I can't test. Sorry if not helpful. Glad the remote trick worked at least.
Sadly, we do not have a transparent guide for this instance. However, we can submit a request for this feature on your behalf. Please send us an email with your full address to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can submit this request on your behalf.

Was I right in thinking it was a feature with Contour 1? If you want a talking point, Cox could say a transparent menu would be more taxing on the boxes CPU, maybe slowing the guide function down. It was that was with older boxes when the picture in picture guide was first indroduced.
As for submitting a request. Can you even do that? Isn't Contour 2 contracted through Comcast? How are you going to ask Comcast to change a feature of THEIR system? It's McD asking Burger King to use the Big Mac, but only if it doesn't use the sesame bun.
