Internet connection dead for 9 hours

My connection went dead yesterday for 9 hours, 6:12 pm to 3:28 am.  Then it re-conected by itslef, re-booted the cable modem (motorola aris) about 20 times before that.

    Ok redid the test, went up significantly

Location is residential (house) in Irvine, Ca, Turtlerock area, if that helps ...
