Phone service with a customer-supplied router

I just purchased a ARRIS SURFboard SBG7580AC 32x8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem/AC1750 Wi-Fi Router and found that it doesn't have a telephone jack. What do I need to continue using Cox telephone services? All help is appreciated.

  • There are a couple different options. First, if you want to keep everything as is with the internet, you could use a splitter to split the coaxial and have Cox install a DPQ3212(free) modem that would just be used for telephone. Or you could rent a wireless modem/router gateway like the Arris TG2472. If your in AZ, LV, or CA and have Ultimate, instead of the DPQ3212 you could get the TM3402, but then you would need to buy a stand alone router. See here for more info.
