I got the new Cox Panoramic modem today and now I have no Caller ID or history. Is there something I need to activate? If so, where do I find it?
Does your phone service work normally otherwise? Can you make and receive calls? Was it just a modem swap or did they make any changes to your account when you called?
I just swapped modems; no changes to the account. And the phone works fine otherwise.
There should be a place on Cox.com to see the phone services on your account. Check if caller ID is listed there. Also see if you see anything called "Simultaneous Ring".
Also, what do you mean by "history"? Do you mean in phone tools? If so, can you get to other parts of phone tools? My guess is something went wrong when they provisioned telephone service to the new modem.
I guess the history means just a list of calls received. I'm sure that if Caller ID worked I could view the list of calls I've had (or missed). I'll check what services are available but I thought I had read that phone tools, including Caller ID, are free to residential customers.
It's a free service, but it's still a service that needs to be on the account for it to work. When they swap modems, they are also swapping the telephone services to be assigned to the new modem. This is called "provisioning" and can sometimes go wrong. This is all guess work. The only way to be sure is for a moderator or employee to access your account to check.
