we have ringers turned off upstairs (scam calls start early!) but of course messages come thru loud & clear & i'm afraid the voice part of the caller id will too.
we are worthless to anyone until we've had enough sleep. is there a way i can turn the voice part off? we don't need to hear "call from chowchilla ca" (isn't there a prison there???) at 8 a.m.
Where are you hearing "Call from chowchilla CA"? If it's from the phone, then that is a feature of the phone and has nothing to do with Cox. What model phone is it? If it's from the TV, what type of cable box do you have?
until now we did not have caller id. cox wanted to charge extra for it, and i will not give them 1c i don't have to! and yes, it's thru the phone. i have a set of 4 panasonics working off one base unit.
any idea why i cannot find any info on this plan on cox's web page? all it wants to show me is a $29.99 package. i scaled down from a 19.99 package, save $1.50...and i think lost a $5/mo "package" credit in the process. may need to retweek. but there is NO info (as the link does not work...at least in chrome!) any other options.
Then the solution would be to turn off the feature that makes the phone voice caller ID. I can't tell you how without reading the manual though.
As for your credit issue, no idea. Try calling the billing department. This forum is only for Cox technical issues.
since i can't find out anything about the service i have, i can't access the feature to turn it off. and i can't find a manual.
It's not a Cox feature. It;s a button or option literally on your phone. You can't "turn off" caller ID. You can only call Cox and asked for it to be removed from your account. Just keep in mind, once it's off, it won't work for any phone, and you won't be getting a FREE feature. IMO just turning off the speaker on the phone that is announcing the caller ID would make more sense.
