Cox assigns IP addresses based on the MAC address of the device connected to the Cox Cable Modem.
1) If you have the Cox Cable Modem connected to a router then change the MAC address on your router, if possible.
2) If no router, then you have to change the MAC address of the NIC card to which the cable modem is connected, if possible.
3) Otherwise, buy and install a router that allows you to set the MAC address. Most do.
After you change the MAC address then reset the Cox Cable Modem and you will be assigned a new IP address.
