Slow internet connection on desktop. Fast connection on tablet.

Had TV and internet installed Wednesday. Running Win 10 on desktop. Today, the tech said router was delivering the fast speed 150 Mbits/s or so.  Both Chrome and Brave browsers show less than 30 Mbits/sec using speedtest.net What settings do I need to change or make to get fast speed on desktop ?  Thanks in advance for any help.

I checked from this end and the device you have connected that appears to be a desktop seems to be using a 2.4Ghz D-Link adapter of some kind. If this is a wireless-G adapter the speeds will max out right about 30Mbps or so. It may be worth contacting a computer repair specialist to see what is best recommended to improve the speeds.

Thanks, Chris !!  That makes sense.  Bought these adapters back in my Win XP days, so they are old technology to be sure.  I'll shop around and see what I can find.  Thanks again !!

Thanks again, Chris...  Found a "newer" adapter in my junk box, and am now getting 120+ Mbs/sec !!!  SO happy now.

        Best regards, Steve
