[Some] Modems don't have passwords.  You only connect to them (http://192.168.100.1/) to view its logs.

Routers have passwords.  If you have a combo device (modem & router), you'd connect to its router portion.  The default username and password for the router would be on its sticker.

If you changed and forgot  the defaults, you'll need to reset the router to its factory default settings, which would return the username and password to whatever is on the sticker.

Very wrong. My Motorola MB8600 has a login name and password I have to use to login to view my modem readings/settings. Some modems you don't have to login to like my last ARRIS SB6183. The default login user name for my modem is admin and the password is motorola but that can be changed in the modem security webui. Typically the login name and password can be found on a sticker on the modem.

Is it "very wrong?"  Perhaps quasi wrong...or better yet, quasi right!
