So everything in my home ( cell phones, laptop etc) gets awesome speeds, except for my 2 xbox 1s' . Anyone else having this issue?
Have you had any luck getting his fixed? I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM. It is only with my xbox, and only affecting the upload... I am getting 300+ download and 1-4 upload... That is wireless, wired to the router and even wired directly to the modem.
All other devices are connecting fine, but this problem affects the multiplayer games online... COX PLEASE HELP. This is apparently a common problem (just google "xbox one upload cox" and you see a long list of reported issues starting back in Nov 2018.
What has happened COX? I used to be very proud of my internet and happy with your service.. Lately, it has been terrible.
Since Cox is throttling (traffic shaping) upload speeds to specific gaming endpoint servers you will get poor gaming performance. This has been the case since net neutrality was repealed in 2018.
I ran the Xbox One speed test randomly during different times of the day and sometimes I get up to 5 mbs upload and other times I get 0.15 mbs speeds. It's just crazy
You won't find a fix for this. I've tested with with 2 different modems completely bypassing my firewall (router) with the same results.

To the Cox customers who are reading this. Do you see the word usage here which I've seen posted on more than one occasion? Cox is suggesting that they don't throttle or otherwise interfere with anyone's desire to go where they want on the internet. I don't disagree with this statement. Of course we can surf where we want. What they won't tell you is that they are traffic shaping (throttling) upload speed which is outbound internet traffic to gaming servers on a regular basis since 2018 causing significant gaming issues and packet loss. Legally they can do this but they do not have to tell you.
Also go into your settings on your Xbox and physically change the MAC address just the last digit and run a test it will show higher upload and download speeds I used to do this all the time. I think I even have some pictures of it I'll post them if I can find it. Not sure why it affects it but it does when you manually change the MAC address' last digit
Morgan1982 what upload speeds are you seeing? Are you actually playing any popular games? Also as I said before in a post above I've conducted a speed test on my Xbox One X and was only getting 0.15 mbs (150 kilobytes) upload speed with 25% packet loss. You need and absolute bare minimum of 500 kilobytes per second upload but 1 mbs is recommended. I'm on the Ultimate tier so I should be seeing up to 20 mbs but it rarely goes above 5 mbs. This is all about gaming.
Changing the MAC address is essentially spoofing it. I do this all the time on my firewall to trigger Cox to provide me with a daily new IP address.
I'm going to change the MAC on my Xbox just for giggles. The last digit.
Again, to make this very clear that this is specific to Cox many other users have changed ISP's and their download and upload speeds miraculously went up considerably.
Thats simply just changing the last digit on the mac address on my older xbox. Not sure why this happens but it was every single time i tried it. I mainly play halo mcc, fortnite, rocket league and i experience mainly only problems with fortnite. That packet loss issue i have has been addressed by epic on Reddit and hopefuly will be fixed soon. I'm not sure what could be causing your issue with the upload speeds but wouldnt i have the same symptoms(new xbx)on my upload if cox was throttling. I think its more of cox has terrible routing and poor line quality and they sale premium service on out dated network. This could be why we see so many inconsistencies between all the different subscribers that have the same package service.
I have tried changing my mac address and that did not change my upload speed what so ever. I have gigablast on docsis 3.1 and NOT fiber and the highest I have seen is 3.3Mbps of upload speed.
That upload speed would make me sick to the stomach. Have you checked the xbox forums. I looked through some ps3 and ps4 forums and people dont seem to have this issue. Wondering if its an xbox issue?
Also wonder why its only on some and not others. My speeds show what i pay for but yours are terrible.
Morgan1982, I am not sure why it is this way. It was showing the appropriate speeds until October of last year. Since then, I cannot get solid speeds. I have been on both the 300/30 plan and Gigablast, which is supposed to be 1000/30. Right now when I just ran a Detailed Network Statistics I am getting 519.99 down and 3.37 up with 39ms latency. I can deal with the download speeds, it is the upload speeds that are terrible. It is only as high as it is now because nobody else is home and using the internet. I sure wish this would be fixed.
One other thing to note, if I manually change my MAC address, then I no longer can pull an IPV6 address to my Xbox 1X.
Yeah the money you pay should definitely see the speeds you were advertised. I was just adding my two cents and my experience with my own Xbox I hope you can get your issue figure it out
