I cut the cord, Cox cut my speed

I no sooner returned the converter box to Cox when they cut my download speed to less than half of what it was - anyone else have that experience?  I should note that I am not a super user - I routinely use less than 15% of the data I pay for each month.

  • Hi THinOmaha, when you disconnected your cable box, did you leave any splitters or extraneous fittings on the coax connection to the modem? -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator

Nope - wireless modem is in one room, tv in another.  Always had 100+ mbps, now lucky to get 40 mbps.  No other changes made to my system, and is just as slow when I turn off my firewall.  Rebooting and resetting modem makes no difference - I am clearly being throttled.

Hi THinOmaha, it might be helpful if we reset your modem from our end to ensure that your QoS is correct. This reset would temporarily interrupt your internet connection. When would be a good time to send this reset signal? -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator
