Random Disconnects and Disruptions. Are these levels ok?

I continue to get these types of errors on my Motorola MB8600:

16 consecutive T3 timeouts while trying to range on upstream channel 2

Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response - Re-initializing

This collection of errors results in the modem resetting and disruption in internet service. This happens multiple times per day. My modem readings are below. It seems like upstream channel 2 is out of spec. Upstream rate doesn't seem right at all and the power is supposed to be 35 at a minimum, according to Motorola.

The Cox line comes from a green box in my yard and is directly connected to the line that goes to the modem in my house. There are no splitters or other devices/services in the mix, all rooms with a coax hookup are single runs to the interface box on the side of my house.

This modem was only up for a few hours (after it's last auto-reset) and I have this many errors, including uncorrectables. I've asked support if there is an issue or if someone can come out and look and they told me everything was fine.

Any thoughts on this? The forum is full of similar issues and some folks have better luck than others getting resolution through proper channels. Any help is appreciated.

  • Hi Stanfield. You technically only need one upstream channel as our max upstream is 38 mbps. Also, our minimum upstream signal is 31, which is a little less than Motorola's. If you wish to troubleshoot, please email us at cox.help@cox.com with your complete address and name on the account and we will be glad to assist you. Thanks, Lisa - Cox Support Forums Moderator
