My phone and internet service were completely out at approximately 10:00 am today for an extended period. In spite of assurances that my emergency phone service would not be affected by switching to Cox, I found that I had NO phone service during this period. Not to mention the inconvenience of having no internet. It would be just common courtesy for Cox to explain the cause for these interruptions.
A loss of Internet won't necessarily translate to a loss of phone service. That would depend entirely on the nature of the issue. Should either the modem fail or signal be lost entirely both services would be impacted in that scenario however a non-signal related Internet or phone issue wont' necessarily affect the other service.
