I have had issues for the last couple of months. My internet connection drops randomly. I reboot the modem (SB6183) and the connection is reestablished. I have called several times worked thru the automated system to reset. Cox came out and checked the signal strength and it was perfect. Called modem support and got no help. They blamed cox and/or my router.  I see these errors in the event log

Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 time out;CM-MAC=6c:ca:08:71:79:54;CMTS-MAC=00:1d:70:b0:56:b5;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

DHCP RENEW WARNING - Field invalid in response v4 option;CM-MAC=6c:ca:08:71:79:54;CMTS-MAC=00:1d:70:b0:56:b5;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

Any my help would be greatly appreciated

    I have been having the internet drop daily for a few weeks.  When I reboot the modem (SB6141), the connection will work again.  I was also getting errors on my modem's log page.

    During an outage yesterday, I contacted Cox's level two support and he said my modem is working fine, he could see the modem and could see that the modem was connected to a router, my Apple Time Capsule.  The agent had me recycle the power on the router and when I did, the connection worked again.  He said, "your router is bad."

    I was on the verge of looking for a new router solution today when the internet dropped again.  I re-powered the router and it worked again.  But, rather than throw out my router, which is also a wifi base station and backup hard drive, I contacted Apple support.

    I explained that repowering the modem fixes the problem and repowering the router fixes the problem.  The support person walked me through some setup commands and declared that my router is working fine.  In the router setup commands, he saw that I had enabled IPV6 network addressing, so he had me turn it off.  He said that Cox might be one of the ISPs that has not correctly implemented IPV6.  Now my configuration is only using IPV4.

    We'll see if that fix lasts.

    Hi Hqbab1,

    Are you finding an occurrence of disconnects at random times throughout the day, or only when streaming, gaming?

    Hi MiBo, IPv6 is not available in all Cox markets yet. Where it is available we are running both IPv4 and IPv6 at the same time. This is known as dual stack. This enables us to process either IPv4 or IPv6 traffic at the same time. While we are not expecting our customers to experience connectivity issues due to IPv4 and IPv6 dual-stacked implementation, we have identified an issue with AirPort Extreme routers once IPv6 dual-stacking has been enabled. Cox is working with Apple to resolve this issue. Apple is aware that Airport Extreme routers sometime lose connectivity after IPv6 is enabled. Apple plans to address the issue with a code fix. At this time, we don't have any information regarding the expected date of this fix.

    These devices may experience the following:
    - No or intermittent Internet connectivity
    - Slow speeds
    - Unable to access some web sites

    The current fixes are:
    Temporary - Reboot the router. You  will have to repeat every time you experience the issue.

    Permanent - Disable IPv6 on your Apple Airport router. Please contact Apple Support for specific steps on how-to do this.

    Please note: always ensure your Apple AirPort Extreme router is running the most current firmware version.

    For more information please contact Apple: 1-800-275-2273, or https://www.apple.com/support/

    I hope this information is helpful.
