For about the last month I've bee using the contour app on my iPad mini 4 in a room without a TV. When I used it this morning the audio is being decoded incorrectly. During the national morning news I get a low mix on the dialog/center channel making the selected volume too load during stereo or surround music bumps. Also during commercials many seem to have the voice over completely assigned to the center channel affectively muting it all together, other then the sound effects and background music. Just to check it wasn't a temporary problem I check the OTA signal and also tuned it with my cox feed on a TV and everything sounds normal in both situations. I downloaded the Contour app to my iPhone 6 running iOS 11.3.1 and had the same problem. I have, just this morning, updated the iOS on my iPad to 11.4 but with the same problem on the iPhone running the earlier iOS I think this may be a problem on the Cox streaming feed.

I don't think that should be a issue. If it was a issue with service rights, nothing would work. You wouldn't even be able to sign in. Did you notice if the app has a "SAP" button? I noticed it was changed with the update to 4.0. It sounds like you are hearing the SAP too, so that would make sense.

Hmm, I thought that might be it. Do you have any android devices to try the app on that? That would rule out any weird router firewall issues. Also, do you have any wireless audio system set up through Airplay that the phone might be trying to send audio to instead?
Troubleshooting the reverse would help too. If you have bluetooth in your car or a streaming audio system (Airplay?) to try to use those to see if the audio works.
Last, do you know anyone else that uses the app in your area? Can you ask them if they are having problems?
Sorry if these questions sound stupid, but I am stretching to isolate the issue. My gut is telling me it's a bug related to some changes they made to get ready for the iOS update, but something broke. Getting it to work anywhere else would proof that.
no android but I will try to find some friends that could try Android and/or a different iOS device to see if the symptoms persist. I can work on the airplay idea latter. I'll report back.
