I've read a lot of questions about this problem of not being able to send emails through cox while in a foreign country, but have seen no solutions. Is there one??
Hmm, not to troll, but it sounds like OP says the issue is a problem sending email, so how can they send you a email with their account info? Do the forum support people have a inbound phone number? Do you even have phones?
What would be the problem? If you were overseas, would Cox block access to your account because of the foreign IP address? With the meddling today, it seems to make sense.
I wonder, before you travel, if Cox had a "pre-verfication" statement. I, LAsP, will be traveling abroad from 1 May 17 to...yada, yada, yada. Or maybe a pre-deployment phone call to Cox.
I think you can send email through the webmail website just the same, just not via SMTP. Basically Cox blocks all inbound requests for their SMTP server from outside the US. This stops bots/people who have stolen Cox username/passwords from sending spam overseas. The problem with just using webmail when on vacation is many people don't know their passwords (because they save it to email client) and I don't think the password reset system works the same when not in the US. So my suggestion would be to have a account create JUST for emailing overseas and have Cox LEAVE it in the allowed state.
So the problem isn't "not being able" but instead not preparing. Then again, subscribers wouldn't know to prepare until overseas. Also, I'm sure the clients don't have a Show Password option in the Account settings. Conundrum. Allowed State suggestion is good but functionality is the enemy of security.
The only solution is to remember your credentials.
