Forum Discussion
OP and I are not referring to the options from the authors of "certain email" because we've seen those various, unstandardized options. We're talking about what Cox is appending to the email.
OP posted the following:
External images in this email use an insecure connection. Those images were automatically adjusted to enforce a secure connection (https). Some images might not be shown.
Open original email in new browser tab.
Why would Elks.Org referred to itself as "external" and "insecure" and automatically "enforce a secure connection"?
Cox did the same thing in their older version with "External images have been blocked to protect you against potential spam!"
Interesting commentaries, learned some. BUT the link to "Open original email" actually goes here:
I put the ETC part in to curtail the actual address. So, It is NOT a new Browser window at the desired website, but within Cox Email server (Darkatt). Bruce is onto something here...

Dark assumed Elks.Org created the links within the body of the message. Incorrect. The Cox server adds the links (or buttons) onto the viewing pane for messages, if applicable. It's like the options on the viewing pane for Quick Reply, Reply All, Forward, Delete, Set Color, etc.
Yes, the link for "new browser tab" points to the Cox server and not Elks.Org. This was also incorrect. Simply hovering your cursor over the display name of the link will reveal its URL at the bottom of your browser.
Your original assessment is correct: This webmail feature is just broken.

Could OP test this theory by forwarding the email to a different email provider and see if the problem occurs?

Another provider offering to "Open original email in new browser tab"? That'd be a coincidence, huh?
What theory?

...or OP could simply forward the email to the same Cox account and check if "Open original email in new browser tab" is in the body of the message, as well as Quick Reply, Reply All, Forward, Delete, Set Color, etc.

Did you delete your post? It seems like I'm babbling with myself. I do...but not during my reply.

Do ALL of your other emails have the same link to open in a browser window?
