Recurring internet outages for OVER 4 WEEKS NOW
My home has been experiencing service outages every single night since 04/22. Every night, starting at 8PM lasting until 2AM. Why can’t yall notify us of these things? Because of the predictability it leads me to believe that there is major work or scheduled work being done affecting internet. My wife and I work a swing shift from home. It’s really hard to work from home WITHOUT INTERNET. I’ve chatted in, called, visited store fronts, I’ve exhausted every single option to try and figure out what is going on and what can be done and all I get is “we don’t know, eta is XX:XX, pay us more money and we can send a technician to check out your home, pay us even more money for a support plan” etc. Not a single person can give me a reason. If there is major work happening, replacing lines, installing fiber, something that’s taking so much time and what not THEN TELL US. We jump into our shifts every night not knowing what’s to come. We are in jeopardy of losing our jobs and all we can tell our employers is “the internet is down again, my shift is going to have to resume later, sometime” and business is business so they’re going to get to a point where they’re going to replace us because of this. BUT IF WE HAD A HEADS UP WE COULD PREPARE PROPERLY. And I’m still expected to pay for a service I can’t use? You’re out of your mind. But HEAVEN FORBID they help and cut out great portions of the bill to reflect the amount of internet we can use in a day while this is going on. I’ve tried to switch providers in the meantime and Cox has monopolized the entire area leaving us no other option. And then support has the audacity to tell us that it’s our equipment…..I have a masters in computer science, I know what I’m doing with my equipment. I’m not renting your equipment that will just experience the same thing. I WANT MY MONEY BACK OR FIX THE **bleep** OUTAGE. And if you can’t do that, then GIVE ME A HEADS UP OR A TIME FRAME FOR THE REPAIRS OR SOMETHING, WHY IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR? “Sometimes it isn’t best to provide all details of repairs and outages” WHAT A CROCK OF SH**. If you did I’d be able to modify my work. This has been the biggest joke of A MONTH I’ve ever experienced with ANY internet provider. And I have no choice but to use Cox. Anyways…..anybody else experience something similar?7Views0likes0CommentsTransition to Yahoo soon?
I am curious about how much longer the transition to Yahoo email will be. I haven’t received notification about my email going to Yahoo yet. Should I expect it to be soon? I have been checking my email at Cox Webmail and I haven’t received the email about the transition.44Views0likes0CommentsBad router port
Hi all, I have a Technicolor CGM4331 modem router. I use my own router so the modem/router is set to bridging mode. This set up has worked great and I don't have any complaints about Cox's internet service. Yesterday my internet connection started failing intermittently. I'd have internet for awhile and then I wouldn't. It finally stopped working altogether. I switched the internet connection to another port and everything has been working fine. The original connection was in the lower port over the power plug, I switched it to the upper port over the coax cable connector. Let's assume the port was bad and that my remedy was the correct fix: (1) Can I continue to use the Cox Modem/Router or (2) Is the bad port indicative of something that will affect the other ports? Thanks.18Views0likes0CommentsMigration to Yahoo
This is the worst experience ever!!! A definite FAIL!!!! I am unable to gain my emails in Outlook or iPhone. The only place to read my emails is on the Yahoo webpage. HORRIBLE. Dealing with all the ads is annoying. Cox, I recommend you cease this migration until all the bugs are worked out. Terrible customer service. Terrible email service. This was the reason I stopped my Yahoo email account.114Views1like0CommentsiPhone Mail and IMAP/POP3
You would think any email migration plan would have been designed to work seamlessly with the default Mail app on iPhones and iPads, but no. After generating a dedicated app password, I created an IMAP connection to the designated Yahoo IMAP server, but it just will not download messages between 6/25/20 and 4/24/24. Messages before 6/25/20 are there going back to 2009, and messages after 4/24/24 up to and including new ones are there; there's just a hole between the two dates. Removing the account and recreating it to force a new sync yields the same result. The messages appear properly in webmail. What gives? I even tried using POP3. It downloads a few thousand messages from current back to about 2018, then seems to get stuck in a perpetual download loop where it tries to grab the next 3000 messages, but fails a couple hundred messages in and starting over while deleting the messages that were successfully downloaded. I am wondering if there is some sort of download limit being imposed by Yahoo or Apple (possibly Cox).29Views0likes0CommentsFor MAC users with Outlook 365 that want to transition from COX to Yahoo email
Below are a set of repeatable instructions for the transition from COX.net to yahoo.com email MS OUTLOOK 365 migration on MacBook; open Outlook Outlook > settings > personal settings/accounts Click “+” to add account lower left corner Enter Email address username@cox.net Click Continue Select “not IMAP?” in upper right corner and select “Y! Yahoo” Select “Sync to the Microsoft Cloud” by pressing “Continue” Log into Yahoo with email account & regular password ( and prove you are not a robot) Click “Agree”, if you agree Add a verification option if requested by Yahoo Access for MS Outlook > agree Select profile in MS Outlook if asked It isn’t working until you get a grayed out “Microsoft Sync technology” under the email address in the “accounts” settings (not sure why) This has now worked repeatably for me with 9 Cox email accounts40Views0likes0Comments- 25Views0likes0Comments
Setting Up Cox/Yahoo Email on an iPhone
I tried several ways to get my new Cox/Yahoo aocount on my iPhone. Turns out it was very easy, but I haven't seen this solution anywhere. Delete the old Cox account under Settings -> Mail Add a new account Select Yahoo! It will ask you to sign in - use your old Cox email address as your username: jdoe@cox.net and then click next. It will then ask for your password - use the new password you created when you transitioned to Yahoo and then click next On the next screen, make sure "email" is on and then click "save" That should do it!240Views0likes0Comments
