What is with all the downtime lately?
What is the deal with the constant downtime we are seeing? Almost every day now, sometimes multiple times a day (I think the other day there were 3 planned downtime events). I only know they are planned because when I call into Cox, the automated message informs me of planned upgrades in my area currently going on. The frustration with this is that it also occurs at times during the day when I am working remotely. I also receive no notification at all about planned downtime and there is a consistent lack of customer notifications on the part of Cox and not keeping them in the loop about downtime especially during daily working hours. I am often in the middle of something only to find out my internet shut off. I have no problem with upgrades, I get it, but it is an absolute nuisance with the number of upgrades occurring right now, the frequency they are occurring at, the time frame they are occurring, and the lack of notifications to customers so that we (as customers) can plan our days around them.5Views0likes1CommentCox email transition - has anyone completed the transition to Yahoo
Has anyone completed the email transition to Yahoo? It would be appreciated if any Cox customer would answer this question. I have been trying to get some information about when; and all I receive from Cox is we don’t know. In my opinion this response is unbelievable - a significant customer service change and the company’s help response team can’t provide an answer is unbelievable - implies a lack of transparency or worst. So that’s why I am calling out to any Cox customer and provide some feedback about the “actual” transition. I and many of us have received the preliminary emails about the future. Has anyone's completed the transition?3.6KViews2likes36CommentsSERVICE INTERRUPTION
There has been "maintenence" in my area for exactly 14 days now so we can't use our wifi. I work from home half the time and while I understand these things have to happen, I have NEVER had an outage for 2 weeks with absolutely no answers or anything to go off of. The store doesn't know what's going on and support says they have no information on this. I NEED more than that. I think we all deserve an answer.26Views0likes3CommentsE-mail Transition to Yahoo! is a Mess!
Received two e-mails about Cox's transition of my e-mail account to Yahoo. Last one received March 6th that included transition FAQs (very few). As I use Outlook to access my e-mail, I noted the statement that said if I use a third-party app to access my e-mail I'd receive a follow-on e-mail with instructions to reconfigure Outlook. Well today Outlook is being rejected by Cox servers, or lack of, and I don't have any instructions on configuring Outlook to access Yahoo! using POP. I've been in a chat with Cox for the last 45 minutes and the person on the other end is more confused than I am. This is a VERY POOR roll-out.3.7KViews15likes43CommentsCancel Peacock Premium using Contour DVR
Hello, Trying to cancel Peacock subscription that was signed up via Cox Contour DVR. The published instructions do not apply to my set up. No tile or app titled "Manage My Subscriptions" exists, as outlined in the Cox KB article: https://www.cox.com/residential/support/canceling-streaming-subscription-service.html#:~:text=Using%20the%20arrow%20buttons%2C%20highlight,to%20cancel%2C%20then%20press%20OK.&text=3-,Using%20the%20arrow%20buttons%2C%20highlight,My%20Subscriptions%2C%20then%20press%20OK.&text=Using%20the%20arrow%20buttons%2C%20highlight%20Unsubscribe%2C%20then%20press%20OK. I have Complete Care, so I can try to arrange a tech to the home to navigate the menus for me, as I am elderly, but hoping for another set of eyes from another Community Member to help me here on where to navigate on the Contour Remote and DVR. Thanks!5Views0likes1CommentTuning Adapter (High-Split) Converter Problem
I have a TV ROAMIO that has been used without problems with a tuning adapter for 9 years. A few months ago I was sent a new High Split Converter (HSC-1-H) and I installed it and it worked without issue for 2 months. At 2 am a week ago, I could not receive any channels. When I unplugged the HSC tuning adapter - everything returned to normal. I replaced the Cable Card - no effect A COX tech spent 2 hours in my house and was unable to find the problem. He verified that all my wiring, splitters, and signals to the unit were fine. He replaced all the cable and splitters. I replaced with TIVO with a new ROAMIO - No change - Nothing will work once I plug in the Tuning Adapter. COX sent me a new Tuning Adapter (HSC) and everything worked for about 24 hours - then, once again at 2 am - the problem returned. No channels unless I unplug the tuning adapter. I have changed all the USB cables, twice, changed every component in the system, twice, and watched the COX tech work on the problem for 2 hours - Nothing. I have an open support ticket, but no one ever updates the status. Any suggestions? Firmware updates?528Views1like37CommentsI hate Yahoo
I really miss the old Cox email Here's why: 1) they bombard you with ads and to get rid of them you have to pay $60/year 2) All support requires payment - I did find a way around it by starting a chat and eventually it said it would have someone contact me - but I shouldn't have to do this 3) You can only block 500 domains and 1000 emails - no filters any more so you can't block by subject. What they define as filters are different 4) The trash is emptied automatically after 7 days 5) It doesn't show the number of emails next to Spam - you have to click on it 6) You can't sort the trash Cox didn't bother telling you how to get emails for non internet like Outlook, or even tell you you needed to do anything. I had to go out to OEClassic which is what I use to find out how to do this. The only thing I do like is that I can use bold, italics, colors, etc in sending emails.51Views1like1CommentEmail Transition - Lost Outlook Subfolders
Hey all, I transitioned to Yahoo today and established credentials and everything without a hitch. (I didn't use the password generation, FYI) The problem is I cannot see my many inbox subfolders in Outlook anymore. If I log in to Yahoo webmail they're there, but they're flat-out missing in Outlook. Does anyone know of the fix for this? TIA, Steve145Views0likes9CommentsUsing Yahoo email in Mac OS mail app
I have created my Yahoo account in my Mac OS mail, but I can't seem to bring it online-attempts to change it from offline to online are futile. Anyone with a Mac able to help? I tried Yahoo chat, the AI bot is useless and if I want help from Yahoo I have to pay. I can't stand Yahoo in the browser. I can't see the text very well b/c my eyes are old now. The ads are annoying and I will drop Cox before I pay for Yahoo premium. We were looking for a reason to switch to the new Verizon 5g box. Might be now. Thank you in advance.Solved4.2KViews4likes94CommentsIs there a maximum number or data size for e-mail messages transferring to Mac Mail via imap?
I am dealing specifically with migrating cox.net e-mail from cox imap servers to yahoo imap servers and setting up the MacOS Mail application. Due to a variety of other complications with this specific use case, I am wondering if there is a glitch preventing a large portion of the messages from downloading to the computer, or if there is a just cap on how many messages or how much data is allowed to be synchronized via IMAP. I am dealing with an account with an exceptionally large mailbox. 13K+ unread messages in the inbox alone, and perhaps as many read messages. It’s a very old account. After successfully moving the cox.net e-mail address to yahoo and configuring the Mac Mail app to send and receive, the mailboxes were populated/synched over the course of the day and night, but only show about 5K unread and 9K read messages. I compared the Mac Mail inbox contents to the Yahoo webmail inbox by sorting first by newest first, and then by oldest first. The inboxes appear to include the same date range overall; it isn’t that the mail app only downloaded the most recent 9K messages. So. I haven’t yet figured out what messages are missing. With so many messages it is not going to be easy to look for what’s missing by just looking back and forth at both lists. To clarify, the messages are theoretically all accounted for in Yahoo webmail. At least, the quantities listed at the top match what the old Cox account had before the migration. But a huge portion of those messages are not being synchronized to the Mac Mail app. It would help if I had information about any limitations on Yahoo’s imap servers. I have no reason to question the settings for the e-mail servers. The account can send and receive new mail. I was even able to move a message from a different inbox (a different address configured in the same Mail app) into the Cox/Yahoo Inbox. Yahoo threw a warning that it could be nefarious since it was not added through yahoo’s mail servers, but it moved successfully and synchronized to the webmail inbox as expected. The issue seems to only involve existing messages from prior to the migration. I have no clue yet whether there is a pattern to what has been omitted since I haven’t figured out what’s missing. Is anybody else trying to migrate excessively large inboxes? (And please, don’t bother recommending a purge. That is in progress. The user is not ignoring the issue; it just takes time. I’m not seeking mail management advice. I’m asking for information to explain why not all of the messages are synchronizing to the Mail app from yahoo.) thanks for any help you can offer. cheers.17Views0likes1Comment
