Using Yahoo email in Mac OS mail app
I have created my Yahoo account in my Mac OS mail, but I can't seem to bring it online-attempts to change it from offline to online are futile. Anyone with a Mac able to help? I tried Yahoo chat, the AI bot is useless and if I want help from Yahoo I have to pay. I can't stand Yahoo in the browser. I can't see the text very well b/c my eyes are old now. The ads are annoying and I will drop Cox before I pay for Yahoo premium. We were looking for a reason to switch to the new Verizon 5g box. Might be now. Thank you in advance.Solved12KViews7likes111CommentsGigablast speed keeps dropping to 25-30MB`
Hello - about 6-8 months ago I signed up for Gigablast. It worked great. My speed wasn't ever close to a gigabyte, typically between 200-400mb. In the past week it keeps dropping to 20-40mb. If I reboot my modem it goes back to 200-400mb, for a very short while, then drops back down to 20-40mb. I don’t know what to do. I have an Arris SB8200 and a TP-Link Deco AXE-5300. Both are less than six months old. HELP PLEASE???40Views1like2CommentsAddtl bill after final bill & a prorated refund
I don't understand why I am receiving an additional bill for $30 after I termed services in March 2024. All equipment was picked up and I paid my final bill. Now I receive a bill for "services from April 2024-May 2024" . I received no additional services. This bill came in a COX envelope and I keep getting the bill via email from COX. I went to online chat which the bill says to do. However, the chat agent could not provide an answer and told me I had to call Customer Service? Please help identify why I'm getting an additional $30 bill after termed services in March 202410Views0likes2CommentsDelete "alerts/bulletins" under notifications
First of all I didn't know where to post this. How do I get rid of the bulletin? It states my payment will be past due, but it has been paid (a day before the due date). I've spoken to chat/mobile accounts & they have assured me it was paid. My account shows a 0 balanced owed. Now what? Thanks.15Views1like3CommentsClosing out email accounts
Greetings forum-goers, happy Sunday! I've been contemplating a question that's perhaps unusual considering that the vast majority of Cox customers wish to retain their email access. I'd rather close out these accounts and be done with them. Practically zero accounts are linked in any way to these Cox addresses. I personally manage over a dozen different email boxes for myself, and it's overwhelming to maintain. So what's the easiest way to close out and delete these email accounts in the midst of transition? Would it be enough to never log in to Yahoo!? Would Cox's transition offer expire and delete the emails for good? Surely there must be an implicit deadline to move off Cox before we lose 'em for sure. I'd just prefer to do this intentionally. So long, and thanks for all the fish!24Views0likes1CommentSuccessful Email transition to Yahoo: using Thunderbird on Windows
After spending a good deal of time and effort trying to make Thunderbird get along with Yahoo, I finally figured it out. If you are reading this, you have probably already called Cox only to find out that they have washed their hands of the whole email thing and will only refer you to a phone number for Yahoo. And of course Yahoo is not set up to handle this, so you will wait in the phone queue for half of forever only to find out that they don't know how to set it up either. So in the hope that my experience may help some other poor slob, I present the below instructions, and I hope it helps. I am using the Thunderbird program to access emails on a Windows computer, however I suspect the settings will be the same for anyone using Thunderbird. First, to transfer the emails to Yahoo and establish a webmail account, follow the directions provided by Cox as regurgitated here: "Visit mail.yahoo.com/login and enter your complete cox.net email address, including the Cox.net suffix, as your username. Then enter your current Cox password, and accept the Yahoo Mail Terms of Service. Upon signing in, you’ll set up a new password for your new Yahoo account." Now log out of the Yahoo webmail and open Thunderbird. I have my email accounts and corresponding folders located in a column on the left of the page. Yours may be set up differently, but mine is the default and I will base detailed instructions on that. Go to the left column and click on the line that shows your complete cox email address. If you have multiple addresses, you will need to perform the following instructions for each of them. Now look to the top right of the new page and click on "account settings". At the bottom of the settings page is the line "Outgoing Server (SMTP)", and at the far right of that line is a box that says "Edit SMTP server"; click on it. A pop-up window will open, adjust the settings as shown below: Description: COX Server Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port: 465 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2 User Name: your user name, duh click OK Now go back to the left hand column and click on "Server Settings". On this page the settings will be as follows: Server Name: imap.mail.yahoo.com Port: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2 Now close Thunderbird and reopen it. You will now be asked for a password for each of your email addresses. Use the new password that you used to set up the Yahoo webmail. Congratulations you have mail! If you want to use POP instead of IMAP I suggest you first set it up with IMAP and then go back and change the setting after you know it is working.3KViews3likes38Comments- 24Views0likes1Comment
Yahoo says, "Sorry, we don't recognize this email."
I just went to the mail.yahoo.com address that's been given and typed in my 5 letter email prefix and then Cox.net like I've was told to do by the instructions. It returned a message that, "Sorry, we don't recognize this email." What do I do now?91Views0likes1CommentPicture time out
I would’ve replied to the correct thread (https://forums.cox.com/discussions/tv/picture-time-out/37058), but apparently they don’t want anymore discussion about this. So, I’m starting a new thread. I understand SDV, I understand saving the planet by conserving energy and I also understand lower overhead in the name of bigger profit. The last piece is the true root of the problem. It shouldn’t matter why I want a single channel on for more than 6 hours. I pay my bill every month, which SHOULD give me a full month on a single channel if that’s what I desire.10Views0likes0Comments
