I hate Yahoo
I really miss the old Cox email Here's why: 1) they bombard you with ads and to get rid of them you have to pay $60/year 2) All support requires payment - I did find a way around it by starting a chat and eventually it said it would have someone contact me - but I shouldn't have to do this 3) You can only block 500 domains and 1000 emails - no filters any more so you can't block by subject. What they define as filters are different 4) The trash is emptied automatically after 7 days 5) It doesn't show the number of emails next to Spam - you have to click on it 6) You can't sort the trash Cox didn't bother telling you how to get emails for non internet like Outlook, or even tell you you needed to do anything. I had to go out to OEClassic which is what I use to find out how to do this. The only thing I do like is that I can use bold, italics, colors, etc in sending emails.36Views1like1CommentEmail Transition - Lost Outlook Subfolders
Hey all, I transitioned to Yahoo today and established credentials and everything without a hitch. (I didn't use the password generation, FYI) The problem is I cannot see my many inbox subfolders in Outlook anymore. If I log in to Yahoo webmail they're there, but they're flat-out missing in Outlook. Does anyone know of the fix for this? TIA, Steve139Views0likes9CommentsUsing Yahoo email in Mac OS mail app
I have created my Yahoo account in my Mac OS mail, but I can't seem to bring it online-attempts to change it from offline to online are futile. Anyone with a Mac able to help? I tried Yahoo chat, the AI bot is useless and if I want help from Yahoo I have to pay. I can't stand Yahoo in the browser. I can't see the text very well b/c my eyes are old now. The ads are annoying and I will drop Cox before I pay for Yahoo premium. We were looking for a reason to switch to the new Verizon 5g box. Might be now. Thank you in advance.Solved4.1KViews4likes94CommentsIs there a maximum number or data size for e-mail messages transferring to Mac Mail via imap?
I am dealing specifically with migrating cox.net e-mail from cox imap servers to yahoo imap servers and setting up the MacOS Mail application. Due to a variety of other complications with this specific use case, I am wondering if there is a glitch preventing a large portion of the messages from downloading to the computer, or if there is a just cap on how many messages or how much data is allowed to be synchronized via IMAP. I am dealing with an account with an exceptionally large mailbox. 13K+ unread messages in the inbox alone, and perhaps as many read messages. It’s a very old account. After successfully moving the cox.net e-mail address to yahoo and configuring the Mac Mail app to send and receive, the mailboxes were populated/synched over the course of the day and night, but only show about 5K unread and 9K read messages. I compared the Mac Mail inbox contents to the Yahoo webmail inbox by sorting first by newest first, and then by oldest first. The inboxes appear to include the same date range overall; it isn’t that the mail app only downloaded the most recent 9K messages. So. I haven’t yet figured out what messages are missing. With so many messages it is not going to be easy to look for what’s missing by just looking back and forth at both lists. To clarify, the messages are theoretically all accounted for in Yahoo webmail. At least, the quantities listed at the top match what the old Cox account had before the migration. But a huge portion of those messages are not being synchronized to the Mac Mail app. It would help if I had information about any limitations on Yahoo’s imap servers. I have no reason to question the settings for the e-mail servers. The account can send and receive new mail. I was even able to move a message from a different inbox (a different address configured in the same Mail app) into the Cox/Yahoo Inbox. Yahoo threw a warning that it could be nefarious since it was not added through yahoo’s mail servers, but it moved successfully and synchronized to the webmail inbox as expected. The issue seems to only involve existing messages from prior to the migration. I have no clue yet whether there is a pattern to what has been omitted since I haven’t figured out what’s missing. Is anybody else trying to migrate excessively large inboxes? (And please, don’t bother recommending a purge. That is in progress. The user is not ignoring the issue; it just takes time. I’m not seeking mail management advice. I’m asking for information to explain why not all of the messages are synchronizing to the Mail app from yahoo.) thanks for any help you can offer. cheers.7Views0likes1CommentGmail POP-ing cox.net worked, now with yahoo hosting it doesn't
I posted to another message that was marked "SOLVED". Not sure what it was marked solved as I see people are having issues. I use gmail and before this transition used POP to pull my cox.net email into my gmail. My cox.net account has been transferred to Yahoo. I logged into Yahoo's webmail using Cox.net and see current email there. The POP settings for Yahoo are not working. here are the settings and error message. This stuff is not rocket science. This is most likely poor planning and no testing. I knew I should have gotten away from cox.net email a loooonnng time ago150Views1like6CommentsInternet Outage
My internet has been down since last Thursday, 4/18/24. Can’t get any real response for why and estimated date of repair. All I get every morning is the following text: UPDATE: We're sorry this complex network issue is taking longer than expected to resolve. Rest assured, a dedicated team is actively working to restore consistent service. We apologize again for the inconvenience and will continue to provide daily text updates. Anybody have any answers or knowledge of what’s going on?11Views0likes1CommentYahoo Email Transition - iPhone Setup
Has anyone seen anything from Cox indicating that they know there is an issue with setting up iPhone default Mail app to work with the new Yahoo mail server we have moved to? Finally got all of my email accounts on Outlook set up and working. Not a straightforward process in the least and now instead of a Spam/Junk mail folder we get something called a "Bulk" mail folder. Looking forward to the day when AI can learn from my Deletions and automatically take care of Spam email for me. ;-)Solved1.8KViews0likes6CommentsOutgoing VM Message Garbled or Cut Off at the Beginning
I have a rather strange problem with my cox voicemail. Intermittently, my greeting is garbled or cut off at the beginning of the script. This happens whether I record a personal greeting or use the default with only first and last name. I have replaced the modem (PW6), checked and re-checked the connections, and rebooted and reset the modem multiple times, all to no avail. I can make and receive calls with no problem, but when I or anyone else calls the number and waits for the voicemail to pick up, the problem occurs about half the time. I have voicemail set to pick up after 4 rings, and have noticed that sometimes one or more of the rings are shorter or longer than usual. I have tried setting voicemail pickup for fewer or more rings, but the problem persists independently of that setting. Does anyone have a clue what could be going on? I have talked to support, and they have suggested it could be a line issue and I might need to have a tech come out. Just thought I would check in here before to see if anyone else has ever had this problem before I go any further. Thanks10Views0likes0CommentsTuning Adapter (High-Split) Converter Problem
I have a TV ROAMIO that has been used without problems with a tuning adapter for 9 years. A few months ago I was sent a new High Split Converter (HSC-1-H) and I installed it and it worked without issue for 2 months. At 2 am a week ago, I could not receive any channels. When I unplugged the HSC tuning adapter - everything returned to normal. I replaced the Cable Card - no effect A COX tech spent 2 hours in my house and was unable to find the problem. He verified that all my wiring, splitters, and signals to the unit were fine. He replaced all the cable and splitters. I replaced with TIVO with a new ROAMIO - No change - Nothing will work once I plug in the Tuning Adapter. COX sent me a new Tuning Adapter (HSC) and everything worked for about 24 hours - then, once again at 2 am - the problem returned. No channels unless I unplug the tuning adapter. I have changed all the USB cables, twice, changed every component in the system, twice, and watched the COX tech work on the problem for 2 hours - Nothing. I have an open support ticket, but no one ever updates the status. Any suggestions? Firmware updates?517Views1like35Comments
