We have an outbuilding that had coax running to it and had nothing but trouble with it. About 50 feet with line of sight. First extender miserable failed, but the nighthawk x4 really does a great job. We can stream 4k and have multiple laptops connected without a hiccup. Easy 40mbps. Do have the extender and router in the house positioned as close as possible on outside walls. Needs differ per situation, but this worked for us. I think the coax they dug in was not suitable for long underground runs. Previous owner first had two separate connections, but then probably decided to run his own from the house. If you do need coax, ensure you have a good quality coax running between the buildings. Gigablast slow Just switched to gigablast and not getting near the speeds i would expect for downstream. It stops at about 350. No splitters (cable modem straight to outside box), 7 foot cat6 cable between router and modem. Speed test from router and speed test from computer directly hooked up to modem stop at about 350 (380 is highest I have seen). Modem is a cm1200. I did perform a modem reset but that made no difference. What is the best route? We had issues with our internet last year for several months until the cable between the house and the pole was replaced. So the outside should still be in good shape. Really hesitant of a tech call: last time it dragged out to 4 visits, me spending over $500 on new equipment (problem always seems to be in your equipment), only to find out the problem was in the end with the outside cable :( Any possibility it is just as simple as requesting a firmware upgrade or some additional reset? Then they came and dug the new line in. I am not an expert on cabling, but this appears to not be the best work ever done. The box is broken and hanging open, cable going inside the house was nicked and exposed to the weather and several cables are hanging loose. I have waited for a couple of months for a tech to come and fix it, but it appears like it was left this way for good. Re: intermittent disconnects Thank you, just sent an email. We had a technician over yesterday but it did not resolve the issue. intermittent disconnects Hi, We keep having T3/T4 errors with disconnects about every hour. We have replaced modem, splitters, cables and router. Called Cox to schedule an appointment, it was scheduled, waited at home and nobody showed. Called again to learn that Cox had canceled the scheduled appointment because when they probed our modem we happened to have a connection at that time. How do I convince Cox to send out a technician after scheduling one in a scenario like this? COX TV Connect Hi, I am just setting up Contour and getting both on Android Phone (TV Connect) and iPad (Contour) the following error code when signing in: 160. Is there a known quick solution to this? Did I forget a step in the setup?
